June and July are the rainiest months.
Best time to visit
One should avoid visiting Osaka in the summers (due to hot and humid weather) and in the rainy season (due to heavy rainfall). Winters in Osaka are cold, but not too cold for travel. Therefore the best time is October, November, March, April, and May.
Places of attraction
It is a renowned and historic Japanese castle with a museum, gardens, and exhibitions. It was opened in 1597 and has been restored many times from then. One of Japan’s most famous landmarks, it was built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi. You can visit this 58 m tall castle between 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
This Shinto shrine is the main (but not the oldest) of all the sumiyoshi shrines in Japan. This 3rd-century shrine is located in a scenic setting with a red footbridge and a peaceful garden.
Universal Studios Japan
This movie-themed amusement park is one of the four universal studios theme parks owned by USJ Co. Ltd. Opened on 31st March 2001, it is spread over an area of 133 acres. It is dedicated to popular American movies and features 5 roller coaster rides and live entertainment.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
One of the largest public aquariums in the world, it is a member of the Japanese association of zoos and aquariums. Opened in May 1990, it is home to 620 species of marine life. It exhibits 29,000 animals ranging from arctic to tropical marine life. You can visit this huge aquarium from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan
It is an iconic tower with an observation deck, open to the public. Famous for its neon lights, it advertises Hitachi. With a total height of 103 m, the 91 m high observation deck gives a panoramic view of the city. Opened in 1943, it has 6 floors. You can visit this tower from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
