Deepika and Ranveer’s wedding has resulted in a nationwide media frenzy with social media taking over mainstream media in the circulation and distribution of images of the duo’s continental marriage ceremony. The Bollywood couple tied the knot on the 15th of November in a traditional Konkani ceremony held at the Villa del Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy. Only close friends and family were there to attend the auspicious ceremony. Both Deepika and Ranveer shared images of their nuptials on their respective social media profiles which garnered widespread attention from fans and the industry folks alike. Several Bollywood celebrity friends of theirs wished them heartiest congratulations on the event, for example, Karan Johar, Alia Bhatt, Malaika Arora Khan and Priyanka Chopra herself, who’s wedding to singer, Nick Jonas is currently making the headlines.
Renowned designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee was the official couturier for the wedding. He designed the garments for both families and the bride and groom. Though Deepika’s kanjeevaram saree was handed down to her by her mother Ujjala Padukone, Mr. Mukherjee made certain artistic changes to the garment in keeping with the contemporary. Both Deepika and Ranveer looked regale in their traditional Indian garments. As the pictures tell, the couple is beaming and glowing with laughter and happiness in the mehndi ceremony and the various marriage rituals.
The newly-weds held a reception in Deepika’s home-town Bengaluru on the 21st of November. The couple looked resplendent in attires created by Sabyasachi and Rohit Bal for Deepika and Ranveer respectively. They were photographed by Errikos Andreou.
In another series of photographs by Andreou, Deepika is wearing Sabyasachi and Ranveer is wearing Manish Arora for their post-wedding celebrations.
For their Mumbai reception, Deepika and Ranveer were seen twinning in ivory ensembles. Deepika was garbed in an Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla ensemble with gold chinkari work. While Ranveer was seen in an ivory-hued ensemble from Rohit Bal featuring intricate embroidery work which he teamed up with a matching shawl.
For their final reception thrown in Mumbai, their looks reflected the swanky spirit of the city. While Deepika looked stunning in a trailing red gown, complete with a red veil, by designer Zuhair Murad, Ranveer looked dashing in a black tuxedo by designer duo Rohit Gandhi and Rahul Khanna.
The reception party was held at Grand Hyatt Mumbai and was attended by almost everyone in the film fraternity. Ranveer and Deepika posed elegantly for the cameras and also posed with the paparazzi. The mood of celebration was high in the air.
